NEW YORK (AP) — The Rangers say forward Marian Gaborik will have shoulder surgery next week to repair a torn labrum.
Gaborik will be operated on Wednesday in New York, according to a statement issued Friday by the Rangers.
Earlier this week, Rangers general manager Glen Sather said 14 players were scheduled for appointment with doctors.
Gaborik, New York’s leading scorer in the regular season, played in all 82 games during the season and 20 more in the playoffs as the Rangers reached the Eastern Conference finals before losing to New Jersey in Game 6. The right winger had a team-high 41 goals and 76 points as the Rangers earned the top seed in the East playoffs.
He added five goals and six assists in the playoffs. Gaborik played an entire season without missing a game for the first time in his NHL career.
