SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Mike Westerhaus threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns to lead Bryant past Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart 34-14 Saturday.

Westerhaus opened the game finding Jordan Harris for a 74-yard touchdown to help Bryant (3-6, 3-4) take an early 7-0 lead.

Bryant extended its lead to 14-0 when Charles Wingate returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown.

As Sacred Heart (2-7, 1-5) struggled to score in the first half, Westerhaus found Harris for a second time for a 52-yard touchdown. Bryant led at the half 24-0.

Sacred Heart got on the board in the second half when Luke Wischnowski found Tim Goodwin for a 53-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 24-7. Then later in the fourth Wischnowski connected with Tyler Dube to cut the deficit to 27-14. But that was as close as the Pioneers would get as Ricardo McCray’s late 57-yard run put the game away.
