PORTLAND (AP) — Clackamas County commissioners are holding an emergency meeting Monday to discuss the ballot tampering investigation.

Chairwoman Charlotte Lehan requested the meeting Sunday and called on County Clerk Sherry Hall and other officials to provide more information.

The Oregonian reports Lehan wants to know how many ballots may have been altered and what will happen with them; also whether the election worker accused of filling in empty bubbles worked in previous elections.

Hall said the violation was discovered Wednesday and reported to the Oregon Election Division, which is sending observers. The state’s Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation.

Clackamas County has about 10 percent of the Oregon’s voters, almost evenly split between Republicans and Democrats, making it pivotal in deciding close statewide races.
