The Columbian
Published: November 5, 2012, 4:00pm

Negotiations are continuing this week between the Pacific Northwest Grain Handlers and International Longshore and Warehouse Union Locals 4, 8, 19 and 23 under the auspices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The parties agreed not to disclose the substance of their discussions or the location of the meeting. Also, all parties have agreed not to comment on negotiations.

At issue is a new labor agreement between dockworkers and grain operators of six grain export terminals along the Columbia River — including United Grain Corp. at the Port of Vancouver — and the Puget Sound.
