INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Carving beat Fury Kapcori by a half-length to win the $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes for Olympic skier Bode Miller at Betfair Hollywood Park on Saturday.
Ridden by Martin Garcia, Carving ran 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:46.04 and paid $4.20, $3 and $2.40 as the 11-10 favorite. Miller co-owns the 2-year-old colt with Jill Baffert, the wife of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.
Baffert also trained last year’s Real Quiet winner Liaison. He trained the race’s namesake Real Quiet, who won the 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
Fury Kapcori returned $5 and $3, while Dirty Swagg was another half-length back in third and paid $5.40 to show.
