RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Allen Huddleston had nearly half of his teams points Wednesday night, scoring 17 to lead a Fresno State squad which shot 28.2 percent from the field against UC Riverside in a 39-30 win.
Fresno State (1-1) hit only 11 of the 39 shots it took and the Highlanders weren’t great either, finishing the game 12 for 49 at 24.5 percent.
The next leading scorer for the Bulldogs was Kevin Foster who had seven points and six rebounds.
The Bulldogs trailed 23-21 with 11:01 to play before Foster made two free throws to tie it at 23-23 and start a 14-4 run capped off by Huddleston’s 3-point basket with 1-minute to play to give the Bulldogs a 35-27 lead.
Chris Patton scored 12 points to lead UC Riverside (0-3) while recording nine rebounds. The Highlanders had 18 turnovers and were a dismal 4 for 12 from the free-throw line.
