Middle Tennessee beats Savannah State 58-55

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Marcos Knight scored 21 points to help Middle Tennessee come from behind in the second half to beat Savannah State 58-55 Tuesday night.

Bruce Massey added seven points, seven rebounds and two late free throws for Middle Tennessee (2-0).

Knight led the way with a strong second half. He scored 19 points after halftime, including 17 of the Blue Raider’s first 23 second-half points.

With 15:57 remaining in the game, Knight buried a 3-pointer to give Middle Tennessee its first lead, 32-31. He followed it up with a dunk, then two free throws to give Middle Tennessee a four point advantage.

After Savannah State cut the lead to 56-55 following Rashad Hassan’s three-point play with 41 seconds remaining, Bruce Massey hit two free throws with 9 seconds left to push the lead to 58-55. Preston Blackman missed a 3-pointer as time expired to give Middle Tennessee the victory.
