Vancouver-based Christensen Shipyards reported Wednesday that it secured three contracts at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October, enough to keep the shipyard operating through 2015. Those contracts include construction of two new yachts, one at 164 feet and one at 160 feet, as well as resale of an existing 160-foot yacht, the company said.

The new work brings to eight the total number of yacht projects in the shipyard. The yachts range in size from 120 feet to 164 feet, and include two yachts being built under contact for the Taiwan yacht company Ocean Alexander. Christensen said it has hired 80 workers in 2012, bringing its workforce to 250 employees, and it plans to hire 60 more by the middle of 2013.
