Hezekiah, South Carolina State beat Webber 86-66

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Matthew Hezekiah scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half as South Carolina State defeated Webber International 86-66 Thursday night.

Hezekiah, a junior forward, also grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots. He made three layups during a 13-2 run late in the second half that gave South Carolina State (2-1) a 75-61 lead with 3:55 remaining.

Adama Adams contributed 17 points, Patrick Myers 16 and Khalif Toombs contributed 14 points and seven assists for the Bulldogs. Toombs had five points during South Carolina State’s 13-2 run.

Brian Pace scored 27 points to lead the Warriors (2-2), an NAIA team that counted the game as an exhibition.

Webber led 28-26 with 5:59 left in the first half before a 17-4 run by South Carolina State that began with 3-pointers by Adams, Toombs and Myers.

The Bulldogs, however, were just 5 of 15 behind the arc in the game.
