INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Qaraaba went from last to first to win her U.S. debut, beating Plaza de Indias by 1 1/2 lengths Thursday in the $52,700 feature at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Julien Leparoux, Qaraaba ran 1 1/16 miles on the turf in 1:41.07 and paid $3.80, $3.60 and $3 as the 9-10 favorite racing on Lasix for the first time.
Plaza de Indias returned $6.40 and $4.20, while I Dazzle was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $3.40 to show.
England-bred Qaraaba has six wins in 14 career starts and earnings of $81,119.
Rafael Bejarano rode three winners on the card.
