The Christmas spirit has already arrived in Washougal.

The city announced plans to hold its second annual Lighted Christmas Parade through downtown on Dec. 8, culminating with the lighting of the city’s community Christmas tree in Reflection Plaza.

Waste Connections, last year’s event sponsor, is sponsoring the event again this year. There will be no cost to participate in the parade.

The parade will form at the intersection of 21st and Main streets starting at 5:15 p.m. There will be judging and awards for the best use of theme, best overall entry and Santa’s choice.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and will travel west on Main Street to Durgan Street, where it will turn left and disband.

Immediately following the parade, Santa will help light the community Christmas tree and will stay for photos with children. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.

Parade registration forms can be found at the city’s website. Registration forms can also be found at the front counter at City Hall.
