RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Darien Brothers led Richmond in scoring for the third straight game as the Spiders rolled over Hampton 68-58 Thursday night in a nonconference affair.

The win moved Richmond to 3-0 for the first time since 2006-07.

Brothers, fresh off 19- and 21-point performances against Liberty and UNC Wilmington, respectively, Brothers netted 19 Thursday on 5-of-11 shooting, including an 8 of 10 mark from the free-throw line.

Brothers was backed by Kendall Anthony (11 points) and Cedrick Lindsay (10 points).

Hampton (0-2) led 20-17 with 8:36 left in the first half following a pair of free throws by Deron Powers, but a Lindsay 3-pointer sparked a 14-0 Spiders’ run.

The Pirates cut the deficit to 34-28 at halftime and clawed as close as 40-37 with 14:28 left, but a 7-0 Richmond run put the Spiders back up by double digits, and Hampton didn’t get closer than seven points again.
