No. 18 Purdue defeats SIU Edwardsville 66-51

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Courtney Moses scored 14 points, and No. 18 Purdue used a hot-shooting first half to build a big lead en route to a 66-51 victory against SIU Edwardsville on Saturday night.

Drey Mingo added 11 points and April Wilson 10 for the Boilermakers (2-0), who shot 53.6 percent (15 of 28) from the floor in the first 20 minutes to lead 34-13 at intermission.

Tierny Austin scored 18 points and Jazmin Hill 11 for the Cougars (1-2).

Purdue scored the game’s first 10 points. Mingo sparked the Boilermakers out of the gate, scoring nine points as they built a 22-5 cushion with 8:57 remaining in the first half.

Sam Ostarello of Purdue and Raven Berry of SIU Edwardsville pulled down 14 rebounds each.
