BALTIMORE (AP) — Jeremiah Schwartz ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead Hampton to a 27-17 win over Morgan State on Saturday.

The Pirates (3-7, 3-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) broke a 14-14 tie when Schwartz scored on a 1-yard run that gave them a 20-14 advantage. The extra point was missed.

Schwartz, who finished with 29 carries, recorded his seventh 100-yard rushing game of the season. Schwartz, the MEAC’s leading rusher, finished the season with 1,043 yards.

Schwartz is the first Hampton player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since LaMarcus Coker (1,027 yards) in 2009.

Morgan State cut the lead to 20-17 late in the third on a 35-yard field goal by Ervin Gonzalez. Hampton was able to hold on following Christopher Dukes’ 16-yard touchdown run with 8:49 left in the fourth quarter.

Robert Council threw for 140 yards and one touchdown for Morgan State (3-8, 2-6).
