Wasilewski leads Maine past Rhode Island 55-6

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Marcus Wasilewski threw four touchdown passes, Nigel Jones scored twice on the ground, and Maine blasted to a 34-6 halftime lead and never looked back in a 55-6 dismantling of winless Rhode Island on Saturday in both teams’ season finale.

Damarr Aultman returned a kickoff 94 yards to give Maine a 28-6 lead in the second quarter after Rhode Island’s Bob Bentsen scored on a 2-yard run.

Maine accumulated 565 yards of total offense to 228 for Rhode Island (0-11, 0-8 Colonial Athletic Association).

Wasilewski was efficient, completing 15 of 22 passes for 201 yards for the Black Bears (5-6, 4-4). Jones rushed 15 times for 182 yards.

Rickey Stevens contributed 110 yards rushing and scored on a 24-yard run for a 41-6 advantage in the third quarter, and Arthur Williams caught five passes for 107 yards and two scores.

Jones contributed an 82-yard touchdown run to conclude the scoring.
