Jones leads SMU past Malone 81-47

DALLAS (AP) — Jalen Jones scored 20 points and SMU cruised to an 81-47 victory over Malone University Monday night in the Hoops for Hope Classic.

Shawn Williams and Ryan Manuel scored 13 points apiece as the Mustangs won their fourth straight game under new coach Larry Brown. Cannen Cunningham added 12 points and Nick Russell had a career-high eight assists for SMU, which led 45-27 at halftime.

Isiah Elliott was the only Malone player to score in double figures, with 18 points — making six 3-pointers. The Pioneers are in their first year in Division II and played this game as an exhibition.
