MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have added eight players to their 40-man roster, including touted outfield prospect Aaron Hicks and right-hander Kyle Gibson, who is coming off of elbow ligament-replacement surgery.

The Twins announced the moves on Tuesday. Hicks was the team’s first-round draft choice in 2008. He hit .286 with 13 home runs, 61 RBIs and 100 runs for Double-A New Britain last season.

Gibson went 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA in the Arizona Fall League.

Infielder Danny Santana, catcher Josmil Pinto, left-hander Caleb Thielbar and right-handers B.J. Hermsen, Michael Tonkin and Tim Wood also were added to the major league roster.

The Twins also agreed to terms with several players on minor league deals, including right-handers Samuel Deduno, P.J. Walters and Esmerling Vasquez and outfielder Brian Dinkelman.
