Alcorn State beats Samford 69-65 in overtime

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — LeAntwan Luckett scored 24 points and Alcorn State defeated Samford 69-65 in overtime Thursday in the consolation bracket of the Atlantis on the Mainland tournament.

Luckett’s basket with just over a minute remaining in regulation tied the score at 56. In the extra period, Luckett scored with 52 seconds left to give the Braves (2-4) the lead for good at 63-61. Free throws by Devonte Hampton, Anthony Evans and Luckett sealed the win.

Evans finished with 17 points for Alcorn State. Tyler Hood led Samford (1-4) with 16 points. Raijon Kelly had 14 points and Tim Williams had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
