Weather Eye: An annual toast to Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! Hopefully this day will offer the very best to you, your family and friends. We have many things to be thankful for and one is the great weather we enjoy in the Pacific Northwest. Like the fantastic late summer and fall weather we just had. Sure we get storms, snow and flooding but nothing compared to other parts of the country.

The holidays are now officially upon us and time to think about gifts for the weather geeks in your family. There is such an array of neat gadgets and books to fit just about any budget. Home weather stations have really come down in price and though not the top of the line they are OK for many. I will share some of these in the next few columns and sources where to find them.

I want to offer my annual Thanksgiving poem:I look up at the sky and give thanks for the rain, hail, and snows

To fulfill our needs as only our creator knows.

We complain about the heat, the cold, and the rain

But we’re given a variety to keep us sane.

The dark clouds may come, but a rainbow will appear

To comfort and tell us our creator is near.

We’re given the seasons — summer, fall, winter, and spring;

Each with their own weather they do bring.

Symbolizing a beginning, growth, and death.

But the wind keeps on blowing and never runs out of breath.

We have acquired the knowledge of the sky, and will keep on learning, that’s no lie.

As a shower that moves through and off to the east, this I would like to say at least:

“Have a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful feast.”

Enjoy your day and we will chat on Sunday.
