Charlotte defeats Texas State 73-64

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Chris Braswell had 18 points and eight rebounds Thursday night to help Charlotte defeat Texas State 73-64 in the final game of the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout.

Braswell and Pierria Henry keyed an 11-0 Charlotte run that closed the game. Henry had 12 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the 49ers (4-0), who will meet Oral Roberts in the semifinals.

Wesley Davis had 15 points to lead the Bobcats (2-2). Matt Staff scored 14 points and Joel Wright contributed 13 points and six rebounds for Texas State, which will meet Loyola Marymount Friday in the consolation round.

Denzel Ingram had 11 points and DeMario Mayfield scored 10 for Charlotte. Staff made two free throws with 5:19 left to give the Bobcats a 64-62 lead, but they didn’t score again.
