Two affordable housing projects in Clark County are among 49 across the state that will receive a total of more than $65 million from the Washington Department of Commerce, the agency said Wednesday.

One of the projects is the 40-unit Towne Square Apartments in Washougal, which received $2 million. The applicant for that project was the Vancouver-based nonprofit Affordable Community Environments. The other project is the 152-unit 1st Street Apartments in Vancouver, which received $1.03 million. The applicant for that project was the Vancouver Housing Authority.

The state Department of Commerce awarded the more than $65 million out of the state’s Housing Trust Fund. It will go to 49 affordable housing projects in 23 counties. The projects will provide a total of 2,349 units for low-income households and people with special needs. It’s estimated the projects will generate 2,866 jobs.
