Gray scores 22, No. 4 Duke beats Xavier 82-59

CINCINNATI (AP) — Chelsea Gray scored a season-high 22 points, freshman Alexis Jones had a breakout game with a career-high 14, and No. 4 Duke routed Xavier 82-59 on Sunday.

Elizabeth Williams added 16 points and Haley Peters had 13 for the Blue Devils (4-0), who came in with five players averaging double figures.

Against Xavier’s smaller starters, Duke shot a season-high 59 percent, including 66 percent during a 44-point first half.

After breaking the game open with a 29-4 run in the first half against Valparaiso on Wednesday, the Blue Devils strung together a similar early spurt against the Musketeers (3-2). Duke outscored Xavier 19-2 and held the Musketeers scoreless for almost five minutes.

Ashley Wanninger led Xavier with 15 points.
