No. 6 Penn State tops Cal State Northridge 85-73

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Maggie Lucas scored 23 points and Nikki Greene added 21 points and a career best-tying 20 rebounds and No. 6 Penn State overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to win the Cal State Northridge tournament with a 85-73 victory over the Matadors on Saturday.

Lucas scored 14 points in the first half and Greene made 11 of 12 free throws in the final 4 minutes, 52 seconds to help the Lady Lions (5-0) overcome a 67-63 deficit.

Penn State held Northridge (3-2) scoreless for a 6:30 span over both halves to turn a 41-26 deficit into a 43-41 lead with 16:32 to play. The Matadors had gone on a 25-10 run to take a 33-16 lead with 5:52 to play.

Alex Bentley scored 19 points for Penn State.

Northridge got a career-best 22 points for Marta Masoni, 15 points from Ashlee Guay, 11 points from Violet Alama and 13 rebounds from Camille Mahlknecht.
