Houston tips Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 77-75

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — TaShawn Thomas scored 23 points Sunday and Houston held on to beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 77-75.

The Cougars (5-0) also got 17 points from Jherrod Stiggers, and Danuel House and J.J. Thompson scored 10 apiece for Houston.

Joseph Young’s basket with 1:47 to play gave Houston a 75-73 lead and he scored again with 31 seconds as the Cougars won.

Will Nelson led all scorers with 28 points for the Islanders (1-3). Joy Williamson added 13 points and Nate Maxey had 10 points and nine blocked shots for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Johnathan Jordan had eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Islanders.
