Injuries _ and wins _ piling up for surging Duke

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke keeps losing players — and, improbably, winning games.

The Blue Devils (4-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) are off to their best start since 1994, and they’ve done it despite a seemingly endless stream of injuries.

Four starters — including quarterback Sean Renfree — were hurt in the Wake Forest win. All four were listed as starters on the two-deep released Tuesday for this week’s game against Virginia (2-3, 0-1).

Coach David Cutcliffe declined to discuss specific injuries until Thursday, when the weekly injury report is released. He previously characterized Renfree as day to day.

Duke has had at least 10 players per week listed on the injury report as being out either for that game or the entire season.
