OTTAWA (AP) — Defending champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir have withdrawn from the Finlandia Trophy event this weekend after Moir suffered a muscle strain in his neck.

“It is disappointing not to go to Finland, but this early in the season we feel it was better to be cautious and careful,” Moir said in a statement. “We have a long season ahead of us, and just don’t want to risk aggravating things by traveling and competing this weekend.”

The decision came just as Virtue and Moir were set to depart for Espoo, Finland.
