FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — If Tim Tebow is frustrated with his limited role in the New York Jets’ struggling offense, Rex Ryan doesn’t sense it.

Ryan says Thursday that he understands how competitive Tebow is, but adds that the backup quarterback hasn’t expressed any unhappiness. Tebow has played in just 31 of the Jets’ 257 offensive snaps after being acquired from Denver in March to back up starter Mark Sanchez and provide a spark to the offense.

Despite the team’s struggles, Ryan says, “specifically, him being frustrated by his role and everything else, I don’t see that.”

Many fans and media are insisting Tebow should play more on offense, with some even calling for him to supplant Sanchez as the starter. Ryan continues to stand by Sanchez, saying he’s “an excellent quarterback.”
