TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — NASCAR champion Tony Stewart has signed Bass Pro Shops as his primary sponsor for 2013.
The popular outdoor retailer announced Friday a commitment for 18 races as the lead sponsor for Stewart. The driver already has an 11-race commitment from Mobil 1.
Bass Pro Shops has sponsored Jamie McMurray the last several seasons, and won the 2010 Daytona 500 with him. But founder Johnny Morris says the contract was up and he viewed the chance to sign with Stewart as a “once in a lifetime” opportunity.
Bass Pro is replacing Office Depot, which said last month it is not coming back next year as Stewart’s sponsor.
Stewart still has nine races left to fill on the No. 14 Chevrolet.
