MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Mixed martial arts fighter Jeremy Stephens missed a UFC bout Friday night after he was arrested on a felony warrant.

Minneapolis Police spokesman Stephen McCarty says officers took Stephens into custody Friday morning at a downtown hotel. He was scheduled to fight Friday night in a nationally televised UFC match, but was still in custody Friday evening.

McCarty says the 26-year-old was arrested without incident on the felony assault warrant from Iowa. The UFC website says Stephens is from Des Moines and now fights out of San Diego under the name “Lil’ Heathen.”

Stephens couldn’t be reached at Hennepin County Jail after business hours Friday night. An email to UFC’s press office did not get an immediate response.
