ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Morocco Moon won the $56,000 feature by 1 3/4 lengths Friday at Santa Anita in her U.S. debut.
Ridden by David Flores, Morocco Moon ran 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:11.38 and paid $14, $7.80 and $4.20.
Hopeful Union returned $24.80 and $11.40, while 9-5 favorite Graser was another length back in third and paid $2.80 to show.
The victory, worth $31,800, increased Morocco Moon’s career earnings to $49,284. The 3-year-old England-bred filly is trained by Hall of Famer Neil Drysdale. She had been idle since running in her home country on May 18.
