KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Quarterback Matt Cassel has been knocked out of the Chiefs’ game against Baltimore on Sunday after getting hit by the Ravens’ Haloti Ngata while attempting a pass.
Cassel remained flat on his back for several minutes before getting helped up and walking off the field under his own power. Brady Quinn started warming up and entered the game to a round of applause.
Cassel has been the subject of much angst by Chiefs fans during a 1-3 start to the season, and a banner towed by an airplane before the game implored coach Romeo Crennel to bench Cassel — and the Chiefs to fire general manager Scott Pioli.
Cassel was 9 of 15 for 92 yards and two interceptions when he left the game.
