A Vancouver man was sent to a local hospital Sunday after his van veered off state Highway 14 in Camas and struck a utility pole, the Washington State Patrol said.

Jaylin P. Cage, 21, was treated and released from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The patrol said Cage was driving alone in a westbound 1988 Ford Aerostar van at 2 p.m. when he left the highway at Alpine Lane.

Excessive speed was a factor, the patrol said. The van was totaled. The accident is under investigation.
