Bills GM Nix criticizes defense’s lack of urgency

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix says there’s no excuse for his defense’s meltdowns, and is calling out the entire unit for playing with a lack of urgency.

Nix refused to single out any one player, while adding it’s unfair to place all the blame on defensive end Mario Williams, who signed a six-year, $100 million contract in March. Nix would acknowledge that Williams needs to play better as does the entire team.

Nix spoke Tuesday on a conference call from Phoenix, where the Bills (2-3) are spending the week preparing to play Arizona. The Bills find themselves in a state of crisis after two consecutive blowouts.

Buffalo is coming off a 45-3 loss at San Francisco, which came on the heels of a 52-28 loss to New England.
