Albany starts slow, beats St. Francis (Pa.) 36-13

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — St. Francis (Pa.) started quickly, taking a 10-0 first-quarter lead, but Albany scored 29 points in the second and third quarters to beat the Red Flash 36-13 in a Northeast Conference game on Saturday.

The defending conference champion Great Danes are 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference. Albany is 14-0 in the series against St. Francis (3-2, 2-2).

Albany outgained St. Francis 460 to 295 yards in total offense. Drew Smith scored three touchdowns rushing, bringing his season total to 15, and Jake Meek contributed two scores. Smith also caught three passes for 51 yards.

Will Fiacchi was 21-for-31 passing for 255 yards for Albany.

Keion Wade, who rushed for 106 yards for the Red Flash, scored on a 53-yard run in the first quarter.

The Great Danes outgained the Red Flash 227 yards to 68 in the second half.
