DALLAS (AP) — Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki missed Monday night’s preseason game against the Houston Rockets.

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle did not say whether Nowitzki is still bothered by a right knee which has been drained twice over the past month.

Nowitzki went through the team shootaround earlier in the day and worked out on an elliptical machine before the game. He didn’t play in the Mavericks’ loss last Tuesday against FC Barcelona Regal in Spain.

It is the same knee Nowitzki dealt with early last season. The Mavericks held their 11-time All-Star out for a four-game stretch in January to improve his game conditioning and give him time to strengthen his right knee.
