CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte 49ers announced a home-and-home football series with Temple beginning in 2015.

The two-game series will begin with the 49ers hosting the Owls, Oct. 3, 2015 at the school’s new stadium. The 49ers will make a return trip to Temple on Sept. 24, 2016.

Charlotte’s inaugural season will be in 2013 and the 49ers will play as an FCS independent in 2013 and 2014. Charlotte will begin play as an FBS member in 2015 when it makes its Conference USA debut.

Charlotte coach Brad Lambert says, “it’s huge for our program to have a Big East team play a home-and-home series.”
