With the help of witnesses, police were able to find and arrest a Vancouver woman who hit a telephone pole with her SUV near 29th Street and St. Johns Boulevard and left the scene Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Heidi L. Jones, 31, of Vancouver hit a CenturyLink telephone pole with her 1995 Chevy Suburban around 7:10 a.m. and left the scene, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.

Vancouver police responded shortly after and found a license plate on the ground in a parking lot just east of Bill’s Chicken and Steak House on St. Johns.

The plate matched the information witnesses gave 911 dispatchers. Police went to the 2900 block of Neals Lane. The damaged Suburban was parked in the driveway.

Jones was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of hit and run, unintended vehicle property damage, and she was cited for driving without insurance, Kapp said.
