NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Seriously injured Tulane safety Devon Walker says his spinal fracture from earlier this season has been “so hard” on family and friends, and that he is grateful for the generosity and support he has received during his treatment.
Walkers says in a written statement provided by Tulane that he wants to thank everyone who has sent cards and letters, adding that he has read every one and that they have inspired him to “keep on pushing” through his therapy.
Walker also thanks those who’ve organized, attended or contributed to the fundraisers aimed at helping him and says he believes he is “truly blessed.”
The senior was injured making a tackle Sept. 8 at Tulsa. He is now at an undisclosed rehabilitation facility, and his family has requested continued privacy.
