FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets backup running backs Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell did not participate in practice and their availability for the team’s game Sunday at New England is uncertain.

McKnight has a sprained left ankle and Powell a separated right shoulder, both suffered in the Jets’ 35-9 win over Indianapolis last Sunday. McKnight was moving well Thursday and said: “I’m playing. For first place, I’m in there.”

Center Nick Mangold (ankle), defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis (knee) and safeties Eric Smith (knee) and LaRon Landry (heel) also didn’t practice. Mangold is expected to play, and Landry received his regularly scheduled day off.

Nose tackle Sione Po’uha (back) was limited after not practicing Wednesday, as were linebackers Bart Scott (toe) and Bryan Thomas (hamstring) and wide receiver Clyde Gates (shoulder).
