FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech is ready to play TCU this time.

For different reasons, Texas Tech the last two years pushed back games scheduled against its former Southwest Conference rival.

With TCU now playing its first Big 12 season, they play Saturday in Fort Worth. Both teams are 5-1 overall, 2-1 in the Big 12.

Texas Tech is also now one of the nation’s top defense teams. The Red Raiders are coming off a 49-14 victory over then-No. 5 West Virginia, and have allowed only 243 total yards a game.

The Red Raiders will be trying to avoid the kind of letdown they had after last year’s big upset at third-ranked Oklahoma. They followed that with five consecutive losses and had their first losing season since 1992.
