BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored three touchdowns in the first and second quarters and led 41-6 at halftime in a 50-21 rout of Southern University Saturday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

The Golden Lions (5-2, 4-1) led 21-0 after the first quarter. Dennis Jenkins scored from the 2. Bill Ross intercepted a Dray Joseph pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback Benjamin Anderson rushed for a 30-yard TD.

Lee Mitchell’s 1-yard TD finally got Southern (3-4, 2-3) on the board, but Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored three more times on Anderson’s 52-yard pass to Ladarius Eckwood and two short TDs by Aaron Lagrone. Tyler Strickland’s 29-yard field goal in the third quarter made it 44-6.

Southern finally scored again on Joseph’s fourth-quarter touchdown passes of 17 and 26 yards to Michael Berry and Charles Hawkins, respectively. But Micheal Wilson completed the Jaguars’ misery with a 9-yard scoring run.
