DALLAS (AP) — New Orleans Hornets rookie Austin Rivers has left Monday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks with a sprained right ankle.

Rivers, the 10th overall selection in the 2012 draft, was on the ground clutching his right leg after missing a layup with 3:21 left in the second quarter.

The rookie from Duke did not put any pressure on his right leg as he was helped to the locker room. The team said he was doubtful to return to the game.

Rivers came in averaging nine points in five preseason games.
