A Vancouver man was arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle early Monday morning in Walnut Grove.

Around 2 a.m., Vancouver police saw a car driving recklessly at high speed on Northeast Andresen Road. The driver ran a red light at Andresen and Northeast 63rd Street, said Sgt. Fred Neiman with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. When police tried to stop the car, the driver sped north on Andresen.

In the 8900 block of Northeast Padden Parkway, the driver pulled over to the side, stopped and bailed out of the car. After a short foot chase, Vancouver police and deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office caught and arrested a suspect.

Levi Joseph Verstegen, 19, was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, attempting to elude police and possession of a stolen vehicle. The car had been reported stolen Sunday from an apartment complex in Orchards, Neiman said.
