Austen Johnson, Hockinson
Hockinson’s Austen Johnson was voted The Columbian’s football player of the week in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Johnson collected 49 percent of the 583 votes cast by fans. La Center’s Jared Huddleston had 25 percent for second place.
Johnson rushed for 102 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns, caught three passes for 88 yards and even has a 27-yard pass completion in the Hawks’ win at Aberdeen.
Other nominees for Week 8 included Skyview’s Jordan Berni, Ridgefield’s Michael Knox and Union’s Leon Siofele.
Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s blog at www.360preps.com on Saturday. Voting starts shortly thereafter at www.facebook.com/360preps and continues until Tuesday evening.
