The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office has hired a new director of emergency management, Ernestus Schnabler, who replaces Grover Laseke.

Laseke was splitting his time between being emergency manager for Cowlitz County and the mayor of Woodland.

In Vancouver, Schnabler worked as Homeland Security coordinator and for CRESA. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Air War College and the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College, is a certified emergency manager, master exercise practitioner and former wing commander for the Washington State Civil Air Patrol. Schnabler will start working in mid-November.
