Vancouver police are investigating a Wednesday night gang-related stabbing and assault.

A woman was stabbed four times near East 33rd and Main streets, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian.

The assault was reported around 8:40 p.m. near Memorial Health Center at 3400 Main Street. The building is used for medical offices.

Vancouver police were called to a local hospital to investigate the stabbing around 8:45 p.m., Officer Ilia Botvinnik said in a news release.

The investigation revealed there were two victims: a man and woman from Vancouver — both are said to be in their early 20s. The woman was stabbed and the man was assaulted with a different weapon, according to Botvinnik.

Detectives with the Safe Streets Task Force are investigating and have confirmed the events are gang related.
