BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — David Fluellen carried 35 times for a career-high 228 yards as Toledo rallied to defeat Buffalo 25-20 for its eighth consecutive victory.

Fluellen scored two of Toledo’s three third-quarter touchdowns, gaining 86 yards on four carries on the second drive, as the Rockets (8-1, 5-0 Mid-American Conference) took a 25-14 lead.

Buffalo (1-7, 0-4) pulled within five, 25-20, on the second play of the fourth quarter but failed to move the ball on its final three possessions.

Toledo’s defense was led by linebacker Dan Molls, the nation’s leader in tackles, who had a game-high 14 and returned a fumble 13 yards for a tying touchdown in the first quarter.

Buffalo had taken an early lead when Cortney Lester intercepted Terrance Owens’ pass at the Toledo 23 and returned it for a touchdown.

Alex Zordich found Devin Campbell for a 42-yard second-quarter score that gave Buffalo a 14-7 halftime lead.
