Expert to discuss causes of economic crisis at WSU Vancouver

Leo Panitch, research professor of political science and senior Canada research chair at York University in Toronto, will explore the root causes of the 2007-2008 economic crisis during a presentation from 1:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. Tuesday in Room 6 of the Multimedia Classroom Building at Washington State University Vancouver, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave.

The event, co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the history program and the Center for Social and Environmental Justice, is free and open to the public.

In addition to addressing the recent financial crisis, Panitch will delve into how American capitalism has shaped the formation of the modern global capitalist system. Panitch holds a master’s degree and a doctorate from the London School of Economics and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
