MIAMI (AP) — LeBron James has his first NBA championship ring.

James and the Miami Heat were presented with their sparkling jewelry in a ceremony shortly before their season opener against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. NBA Commissioner David Stern gave Heat owner Micky Arison the first ring, and Arison issued the rest to players, executives and staff members.

The Heat starters were introduced last, with James — the reigning MVP — the final player to make the walk to center court. He pointed to the crowd, punched the air, then took a long look at his new jewelry after it was placed in his hands.

As “We Are The Champions” blared, the 2012 NBA championship banner was raised immediately after the ring ceremony.
