CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez was a late scratch from Chicago’s starting lineup on Sunday after he arrived late to U.S. Cellular Field.

Ramirez was listed as the No. 2 hitter in the original lineup posted in the clubhouse for the game against the Kansas City Royals, but was replaced by utility player Ray Olmedo. Chicago entered the game with a two-game lead over Detroit in the AL Central.

Ramirez is hitting .273 with nine homers and leads AL shortstops with 66 RBIs.

The White Sox were also without Adam Dunn and Kevin Youkilis for a third straight game. Dunn is day to day with a strained right oblique, while Youkilis is expected back on Monday after returning home for the birth of his son.
